Lung cancer is the United States top cancer killer, claiming approximately 160,000 lives per year. It is a devastating disease that can afflict anyone, regardless of smoking history, gender, or ethnicity. As of today, only 15 percent of people diagnosed with lung cancer survive five years post-diagnosis.
About Asthma
Asthma is a chronic lung disease that causes inflammation of the airways. Asthma causes recurring periods of wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath, and coughing. Asthma affects people of all ages, but it most often starts in childhood. In the United States, more than 22 million people have been diagnosed with asthma. Nearly 6 million of these people are children.
About COPD
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD, refers to a droug of diseases that cause airflow blockage and breathing-related problems. It includes emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and in some cases asthma. More than 12 million people are currently diagnosed with COPD. An additional 12 million likely have the disease and don't even know it. COPD is a leading cause of death, illness, and disability in the United States.
